SuperDogs In The News
2010 Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life

As a team, the Superdogs yet again made history. Last year, on a swift decision, we entered the Relay for Life Walk to fight Cancer in Oakville, Ontario. In ten days, the Superdogs raised $10,000 thru donations from our team, families and friends. Well, seeing how well we did in 2009, we started our new found "pet project" earlier this year and we raised $24,500! We got donations from all across the country and the U.S. Yes, once again, our team, their families and friends graciously came thru to help fight the battle against cancer. We can not thank each and everyone of them enough!

This year we added a new twist ... a volunteer show before the walk. Well, once again the team rose to the challenge(with only a week's notice! Herb gave of his time to MC. Greg Williams and Chris Clark brought us equipment, played crew and sound guys and even made a second trip back to Oakville to bring forgotten items for the 12-hour walk. The team, led by Audrey Portiss and top cheerleader, Sophie, was one to be a proud part of. The show went smoothly with the team being extremely excited to be a part of something much bigger than ourselves. Comments from the crowd and other teams that walked all night with us were of praise and enjoyment. It rained, we got wet, but it never dampened our spirits, nor for one moment did we forget why we were there. The team cried, laughed, and we ran thru every emotion we had in remembering all our lost ones with the candles that lit the paths all night long. It was moving and surely everyone went home with a sense of pride that we helped to fight a very big battle. A battle that Superdog team members want to help win ... TO MAKE CANCER HISTORY!

We have all been touched by cancer, whether a family member, friend or one of our beloved canines. Although the amount of money we raised looks like a lot, it only made a very, very small dent in the research for a cure. Watch out for this group of dedicated team members, dog owners, lovers and trainers. In memory of our recently lost Ann Penner, and the long list of canines we have lost to this dreaded disease, 2011 will be even a bigger year for us. We will once again walk as a team with pride, helping to fight the fight. The battle continues but now they have the Superdogs to contend with!
